| Ralph Russell, 76, of Matheny, WV passed away on Saturday February 27, 2010 at his home. He was born June 28, 1933 in Olive Hill, KY a son of the late Roy and Olive Greenhill Russell. | Sherwood Ernest Perry, 82, of Sun Hill, W.Va., passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2010, in Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness. He was born June 1, 1927, in Davin, W.Va., a son of the late Marshall Hayes Perry and Inez Christian Perry. As a young man, he proudly served in the U.S. Army and Air Force for six years; after his release he became a construction worker and worked until 1986 when he retired. He loved gardening, fishing and hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Orville Harold Perry and Walter Levon Perry. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Edra Morgan Perry of Sun Hill, W.Va.; his daughter Dianna Hall of Sun Hill, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Sgt. Nathan Hall of Fort Drum, N.Y., Lauren Hall of Huntington, W.Va., Lucas and Amber Minor both of Sun Hill, W.Va.; four great-grandchildren; his stepmother Rosie Perry who was like a second mother to him; his brothers Bill Perry and wife Bobbi of Cyclone, W.Va., and Jim Perry and wife Rita of Ripley, W.Va.; sisters Betty Miller of Cleveland, Ohio, Judy Walls of Florida, Darlene Perry of Cyclone, W.Va., Mary Canterbury and husband Frankie of Lynco, W.Va., and Sherry Spaulding and husband David of Lynco, W.Va.; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. | Billy Lee Wooten, Sr., 82, of Beckley, WV, formerly of Oceana, WV, passed away on Thursday February 18, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital in St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, WV. He was born May 20, 1927 at Hensley, WV, a son of the late George and Virginia Stevens Wooten. He served in the US Army during WW II and was a member of the UMWA. He was a retired coal miner having worked a Amherst Coal Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Camping and spending time with his family and friends. | Ocie Mae Martin, 77years old, of Crouches Farm, WV, died on Wednesday February 10, 2010. Her cause of death was Cardio Pulmonary Obstructive Disorder (COPD) a lung disease. Ocie Mae was born Harts in Wayne County, WV. She was the daughter of the late Bertrand Harry Morrell and Ina Walls Morrell. Preceding her in death was an infant brother David Morrell, a sister Betty Jo Morrell Bailey, a half brother Vernon Morrell, two half sisters Naomi Burton and Muriel Toler and an infant granddaughter Syrilda Elise Cook. Ocie leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Calvin C. Martin of Crouches Farm; a daughter Carolyn Kay Jamkhandi and husband Sudhkar “Jammy” of Princeton, WV, a daughter Drema Gale Cook and husband Roger of Crouches Farm; a granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Cook that was the light of her Ma-Maw’s life. | Robert Samuel McGuire, 84, of Jesse, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday February 6, 2010 in Raleigh General Hospital. He was born April 29, 1925 in Starratt, WV, a son of the late Walter and Lizzie Barnette McGuire. He was a United States Army Veteran, a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was also preceded in death by three sisters and a brother. He attended the Turkey Ridge Baptist Church and Rhema Ministries. He enjoyed hunting, riding his four wheeler and giving out religious tracts. Nora was born on August 1, 1921 at Guesses Fork, Virginia, a daughter of the late Paris and Edna Littles Coleman. She was a gardener and loved canning her own food. She loved going to church and flea markets. She was of the Church of God faith. She loved spending time with her family and friends. | Mabel June Hughes, 87, of Montgomery, Alabama, formerly of Clear Fork, WV passed away on Sunday evening January 10, 2010 at the home of her daughter, Bonnie Hughes Ely. Mabel was born June 15, 1922 in Simon, WV, a daughter of the late George and Laune Toler Brinegar. Mabel lived in the community of Clear Fork, West Virginia and was a member of the Sun Hill Methodist Church. She lived in Clear Fork until 2005, at which time she moved to Montgomery, Alabama to be closer to her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Stacy Hughes and a sister Edith Walls. Always the loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend, Mabel always had a smile and a kind word for all. Her loving good nature will be missed by all who came in contact with her. | Douglas Rondy “Doug” Aliff, 72, of Fanrock, WV, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to be reunited with his loving wife of 47 years, Susie Aliff, whom he missed dearly, on Thursday November 19, 2009 at the Bower’s Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born on September 27, 1937 at Fanrock, WV, a son of the late Ulbert and June Morgan Aliff. He was a retired coal miner of 25 years from Keppler National Mines and a member of the UMWA Local 1599. Doug was of the Baptist faith and had been a Christian for many years. He enjoyed going to church, reading his Bible and serving the Lord, he also loved the outdoors, camping at Bluestone, fishing, gathering wood, spending time with his family, especially his eight grandkids. In addition to his parents Doug was also preceded in death by his loving wife Brenda “Susie” Aliff; a sister Joann Aliff and his in-laws Glen and Leola Williams. | David Ray Hearns, 41, of Westfield, NC, formerly of Lynco, WV, passed away on Monday October 26, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. David was born April 15, 1968 in Man, WV, the son of Dewey and Shirley Maynor Chambers of Lynco, WV. He was a roofing contractor for 20 years and had a small roofing business. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son and grandfather. | On August 16, 2009, Alfred Thomas Robinette, born May 18, 1927, of Coon Branch, WV traveled home to be with Jesus Christ after a long Battle with cancer. Alf attended the Word of Life P.H. Church in Iaeger, WV. He loved Bluegrass Music and sitting on his front porch watching the world go by as he smoked his corncob pipe. When he was younger he had a calling to preach for the Lord and also served time in the Navy. Alf will be sadly missed by his family and friends. | Lisa Lea Rose, 37, of Hanover, WV, passed away on Friday August 7, 2009 at her home. Lisa was born January 21, 1972 at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, the daughter of Charlotte Cline Rose and the late Elisha Rose. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Howard and Evelyn Cline and Cleve and Ebbie Rose. Lisa graduated in 1990 from Baileysvillle High School and attended Southern West Virginia Community College. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially with Emilee. Lisa is survived by her daughter Emilee Eve Rose; her mother Charlotte Rose and companion Charlie Roark; and a brother Jeffery Rose. Lisa is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Lisa never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone. She has left this life too early and will be sadly missed forever. | Rev. Dennie Rice Browning, 68, of Jesse, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday August 5, 2009 at his home. He was born May 26, 1941 in Jesse, WV, a son of the late Walter Lawrence and Maudie Marie Dameron Browning. Mr. Browning graduated from Oceana High School in 1959 and later obtained a Divinity Degree from Liberty University. He was a former logger and Ordained Missionary Baptist Minister having served many years at Guyandotte Baptist Church. | Nita Maude Conley Cline, 87, of Lynco, WV passed away on Sunday August 2, 2009 at the Bower Hospice House in Beckley, WV after a long battle with cancer. She was born November 12, 1921 in Clear Fork , WV, a daughter of the late Dee and Nellie Bowden Conley. Mrs. Cline was a life long resident of Wyoming County and a homemaker. | Edward D. "Ed" Bryant, 61 of Iaeger, WV, passed away at the residence of his daughter Kelli Roberts on Sunday June 28, 2009. He was born October 31, 1947 a son of the late Ephe and Velda Steele Bryant of Horse Creek. He was raised in Horse Creek and was a disabled coal miner. Ed loved to fish and hunt. He was a member of the House of Gethsemane, on Panther Iaeger Road. | Joseph Woodrow Dean, of Crouches Farm, Clear Fork, WV, went to rest in the arms of Jesus on May 10, 2009 at his home following a short illness. | Donald Eugene Brian Hood, 26, made his home in Killeen, Texas for the past three years and was formerly of Oceana, WV passed away on Saturday May 9, 2009 in Killeen of a sudden illness. He was a 2000 graduate of Oceana High School, a US Army Veteran, having served in Korea and Iraq, and a member of the Killeen Seventh Day Adventist Church. | Douglas Randolph “Doug” “Pops” Blevins, 74, of Oceana, WV passed away on Thursday April 30, 2009 after a long illness. Doug was born January 21, 1935 in Glen Fork, WV, a son of the late Thomas Manuel and Wilmath Mae Adkins Blevins. Pops was U.S. Marine having served in the Korean War. He was a former Chef having owned his own restaurant in California. | Dana Keith “Kimmie” Cook, 50, of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of Cyclone, WV passed away following a short Illness on Sunday April 19, 2009 at University of Cincinnati Hospital. Kimmie was a wheelwright and a 1977 graduate of Oceana High School. He was born February 11, 1959 in Logan, WV, a son of the late Cleetis F. Cook and Sonia Lee “Jackie” Wright Cook. | Randall G. Paugh, 54, of Cyclone, WV passed away Wednesday April 8, 2009 at his home of a heart attack. He was born February 10, 1955 in Oceana, WV, a son of the late Orville James "Jim" Paugh and Edith Katherine "Kat" Brown Paugh. He was also preceded in death by a grandson Evan Cole Cooper and his first wife Karen Sue Cobb Paugh. Randy was a member of the Lacoma Baptist Church at Cyclone, WV. He was employed with Patriot Coal's Guyan Mine, a 30 year member of the UMWA, Local 5958. Randy also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren Kara, Brody and Sara Beth, woodworking, hunting, fishing and a lot of outdoor activities. | Doris Jean "Jeanie" Altizer Hurley, 58, of Pineville, WV passed away on Sunday January 18, 2009 at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Jeanie was a 1970 graduate of Pineville High School and loved doing needlepoint and crochet as her hobbies, and her little dog "Wags". Mabel was a loving wife and mother, a member of the Toneda Baptist Church, attended the Oceana Freewill Baptist Church, a member of the Rebekah Lodge and had lived in Wyoming County for 62 years.
