Carolyn Ruth Shumate, 63, of Keyrock, WV, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026, at her home following a long illness. She was born April 22, 1963 in Beckley, WV, a daughter of the late Willard and Ruth Lovins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Andrew “Andy” McCoy, Jr, siblings Delores “Gay” Osborne, Betty Keene, Belvia Meade, Sheryl Frtz, Roy Lovins, and David Lovins. Carolyn lived life to the fullest, she never met a stranger and was always the life of the party. Her smile was contagious. She was “Sissy Carolyn” and “Nana” to many whom she loved dearly. She loved her family, especially her grandbabies. Those left to cherish her memory include her children Valerie McCoy (Jake) and Veronia McCoy (Shorty), her grandchildren Dominique Foster (Linda), Ethan Tilley (Natalie), Shaylann Kendall, and Juddson Kendall, her devoted loving partner Dwight Cook, stepson Daniel Cook (Autumn), grandchildren Michael, Corey, Chistian, Sam, and Bowen Cook, siblings Jimmy Lovins (Linda), Thelma Frazier (Roger), Nadine Lovins, Brad Lovins (Belinda), and Willard Lovins (Courtney), a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends. She will be missed and was loved by so many. Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, September 10th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Ritchie Walker officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 12pm until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated following the service. In lieu of flowers donations towards the funeral may be made to the family or the funeral home. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
