Daniel Lee Daugherty, 89, of Lester, WV, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on April 25, 2026, following a long illness. He was born in Simon, WV, on August 30, 1936, to the late James Daugherty and Edie Kennedy Daugherty. Daniel was a kind and gentle soul, loved dearly by all who knew him. He lived his life with a servant’s heart and a deep devotion to the Lord. His presence brought comfort, and his faith was a steady example to those around him. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Jeffery Lawrence; his granddaughter, Miranda Acord Browning; his daughter, Twana Daugherty; his sisters, Dixie Vance, Gladys Vance, Rachel Harper, and Freda Toler; and his brother, Julian “Doc” Daugherty. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Daugherty; one daughter, Lavana Meadows (Darrell) of Lester; and one son, Tony Daugherty of Portsmouth, Ohio and a son-in-law Freddy Richmond of Mount Hope, WV. Daniel also leaves behind one Granddaughter whom he adopted and helped raise, Stephanie Danielle Acord (Bobby); and grandsons Justin Fernatt (Madison) of Meadow Bridge, WV; Tony Daugherty Jr. of Virginia; and Nathaniel Daugherty of Peterstown, WV. His stepdaughters include Patricia Ward (Wayne) of Hix and Rhonda Dunbar (Joey) of Peterstown, WV. Step-grandchildren include DJ Meadows of Princewick, WV, and his two children, Summerlee and Brandon; Harley Ward of Hix; Nicole Ward (Colton) of Morgantown, WV; and Brooke Yebra (Saul) and their daughter Alexandra of Fishersville, VA. Daniel was blessed with many great-grandchildren: Kaven Adkins (Jaylen) of Fairmont, WV; Cruz Bowyer of Saint Albans; Remington Lake Zimmerman (Patience) of Alderson, WV; Bo Acord of Oak Hill, WV; Emma and Gentry Acord of Beckley, WV; Tristen Fernatt of Bluefield, WV; and William, Lila, and Willow Fernatt, all of Meadow Bridge, WV. Step–great-grandchildren include Joe Dunbar (Brandy) and their daughter Mila, and Dakota (Evalee) and their sons Xavier Dunbar and Easton Page. He is also survived by one brother, Roger Daugherty, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, April 29th in the Chapel of Stafford Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Pastor Chris Stevens officiating. He will be laid to rest in the G C Toler Family Cemetery, Sunhill, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 12 pm until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
