Jerry Lynn Hopson, 64, of Brenton, WV passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at McDowell Healthcare Center, Gary, WV. He was born on October 14, 1961 in Pineville, WV a son of the late Theodore Hopson, Jr. and Barbara “Bobbie” Mae Steele Hopson. Jerry was one of the original members of the Brenton Volunteer Fire Department. He worked as a coal miner for over 30 years at several different mines. He loved to paint, and draw, and he was a Dale Earnhardt fan. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters Barbara Diane Hopson, and Mary Ann Hopson; a nephew John Scott Hospson, Jr.; his grandparents Theodore Hospon, Sr, Pearl Daniels Hopson, Rev. Scott Steele, and Sylvia Bowman Steele. Those left to cherish his memory include two brothers Larry Hospon and wife Bonita, and Scotty Hospson and wife Dot; a sister Linda Carol Hopson Hatfield and husband Lance; a son Jeremy Scott Hopson; three nephews Nelson Hatfield and wife Kathy, Reggie Hatfield and wife Theresa, and T.J. Hopson; four nieces Edna Eaton and husband Steve, Angie Lanning and husband Michael, Dottie Hopson, Heather Williams and husband Chris; special cousins Bonnie and Bill Gilkerson, Rita Cline, and Kayla Ellis; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 25th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 12:00 pm until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
