Pastor Jonathan Trevor “Nub” Blankenship, 78, of Clear Fork, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, September 18, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. Nub dedicated his life to serving God. He served as Pastor at the Reedy Creek Freewill Baptist Church for 7 years, then served as Pastor at the Sun Hill Freewill Baptist Church for almost 38 years, before receiving his promotion. He took pride in his many titles… Pastor, Minister, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother and Friend. He was an employee of the Pepsi Cola Company for 20 years. He was born on January 5, 1948 in Simon, WV, a son of the late Rev. Wirt and Sadie Kennedy Blankenship. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Vennie, Benjamin, and Allen Blankenship, and Firg Proffitt; two sisters, Marie Blankenship and Dolly Collins; his mother-in-law Doris Hatfield; a son-in-law Timmie Lusk; two sisters-in-law, Linda and Helen Blankenship; two brothers-in-law Jack Collins and Clayton Hale; two nephews Jeffrey Blankenship and Jackie Collins. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife and best friend of 52 years, Lois Ann Ayers Blankenship; three daughters, Kelli Lusk, Amanda Morgan and husband Phillip, and Melissa Walls and husband David all of Clear Fork; six grandchildren Trevor Morgan and wife Taylor, Olivia Walls and companion Shawn Clay, Aidan Morgan and fiancé Traylor McKee, Davin Walls, Evan Morgan, and Marlee Lusk; one great granddaughter who was his little sunshine, Ellie Morgan; three brothers, Jay Blankenship and Bridgette of Sun Hill, Hobert Blankenship and wife Retha of Clear Fork, and Lonnie Blankenship and wife Donna of Sausville; five sisters-in-law Betty Blankenship of Clear Fork, Peggy Prater and husband Jim of Beckley, Cathy Cline and husband Larry of Sun Hill, Deborah Hale of Pineville, and Carrie Morgan and husband Omer of Oceana; a brother-in-law Mike Hatfield of Beckley; his father-in-law Mason “Wirt” Hatfield of Clear Fork; along with his church congregation and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, September 27th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Lowell Smith, Rev. Jeff Cline and Rev. Michael Kell officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Walls-Christian Cemetery, Reedy Creek, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 6-9:00 pm on Saturday, September 26th at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Trevor, Aidan, and Evan Morgan, Davin Walls, Shawn Clay, and Fischer Cline. Honorary pallbearers Mike Belcher, Teddy “Bear” Lester, Lil’ Mike Belcher and Doug Cline. The family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to Landon Blankenship and Hospice of Southern West Virginia, Jamie Blankenship, Mike and Kathy Belcher, Peggy Prater, the Sun Hill Freewill Baptist Church, and everyone who helped during our time of sorrow.
