Joyce Howell, 71, of Matewan, WV passed away Sunday, August 30th, 2026 at her home. She was born on December 14, 1954, a daughter of the late Ray Blankenship and the late Carrie Marie Daniels. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband Frank Howell, her brother Mike Newcomb, and her sister Barbara Jessie. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons Scott Blackburn and Lisa of Hinton, Mitch Blackburn and Amy of Charleston, her daughters Kim Blankenship of Oceana and Christal Blankenship and Woody of Taylorsville, and Tonya Blankenship and Jim of Delbarton, grandchildren Justin Stacey and Kristen of Julia, Aaron Stacey and Kayla of South Charleston, Jamie Brock and Anthony of Delbarton, Savannah Stewart and Anthony of Red Jacket, Tara Shrewsbury and Chris of Princeton, Derrick Blankenship and Alliyaghna of Delbarton, Breanna Blankenship of Delbarton, Mitchell Blackburn and Phoebe of Clear Fork, Michai Slaughter of Hinton, and Joshua Slaughter of Indianapolis, IN, 13 great-grandchildren, sisters JoAnne Plumley and husband Beecher of Oceana, Teresa Waldron of NC, and Linda Cabrera of NC, brothers Ernie Ray Blankenship and wife Alicia of Panther and Roger Newcomb of TN, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, September 8th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor David Smith officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 11am until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Blackburn Cemetery, Cedar Creek, WV. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
