Linza (aka Linzy) Browning,84, the youngest of eleven children, was born, raised and lived for many years at his home in Jesse, West Virginia and joked that his mother often told him he was the worst Christmas gift she ever got. I am sure that it was all in good humor because his siblings always said he was his mother’s favorite. He grew up humble and poor but he admitted they always had food on the table for breakfast, dinner and supper. He loved to be in the woods hunting and exploring from an early age and they could always scrounge up enough money for a box of shells that more than once provided the only meat they had for the table. He dropped out of school early in the 9th Grade due to the family not having much. Although he dropped out of school he would be the first to tell you that was the dumbest thing he did and would tell anybody that was considering dropping out of school that it was a mistake. He did the normal odd jobs until he moved to Michigan to live with one of his brothers working at different locations. He eventually moved back to West Virginia where he enlisted in the Army at the age of 22. Unfortunately, that wasn’t for him due to some medical conditions that had him discharged. Eventually he decided to get his GED and attend a Welding course with the determination to get everything he could out of both. He made a name for himself as a good welder and never had a problem finding work in that field that often had him doing many different jobs making him a well desired employee. After a time he went into business for himself as a contractor in construction and could often point out the many homes, bridges, buildings and other things in Wyoming Country he had worked on and built. He never seemed to have a problem with looking for jobs and often joked he didn’t have time for all the jobs waiting for him. A lot of the people he worked for would even wait their turn to get this or that project done that they only trusted Linza to do. He loved being in the woods and often talked about his many hunting adventures and the deer he seen or killed. Not to mention all the turkey, squirrels and other animals that he hunted over the years. He was considered to being quite charming to the people he would meet as well as known to be a big flirt with the women. He always had a smile, joke and handshake for all the many people he knew and met along the way in life. He would remember their names and how he knew them no matter how much time had passed. Up until the very end he was the story teller and would often brag of his exploits from the time he was a child until eventually an old man. I am sure he will be missed by many. He loved all of his cats and dogs and got a kick out of watching their exploits in his later years. He will be laid to rest near his Mother Elsa, as he wished, in Jesse. There will be no formal wake or burial services provided as he wished also. We only ask that you remember the good times with him and maybe give a smile for Linza (Linzy) Browning. He is preceded in death by his Father Alonzo Browning, Mother Elsa (aka Elsie) Bradbury Browning; Siblings: Garnett Browning, John W. Browning, Vernard Browning, Lovell Browning, Lloyd Browning, Opal Browning Ellison, Lorenza Browning, Lona Browning Berridge, Jinks Browning and Sonja Browning; Wife Carol Stewart Browning, Daughter Carla L. Browning and Grandson Skyler J. Browning. He is survived by his Son, from his first marriage, Michael S. Browning, Daughter in Law Stephanie D. Christian Browning, Grandson Bryce J. Browning, and Adopted Daughter Megen Ziva Browning and the many nieces and nephews that comes from having so many brothers and sisters. So many in fact, he joked he never met them all. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
