Leaving broken hearts behind him, Norvel Edward Bolen, Sr., 91, of Jesse, WV left us to dwell with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 3, 2026, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. Norvel was born on July 10, 1935, to Garrett Bolen and Inez Bolen Cook. Norvel was a United States Marine Corp Veteran, as well as a licensed pilot. He was skilled in operating heavy equipment and provided for his family by using that skill. Norvel was a generous man and known to provide funds and services for the less fortunate. He was a quiet strength to his family and all who knew him well. He was a faithful pillar in his church, New Hope Church, Indian Creek, WV where his brother-in-law, Leonard Sizemore was pastor. He and Leonard shared a special bond as brothers-in-law and pastor and sheep, spending many private hours discussing their love and gratefulness to Jesus Christ. In addition to his parents, Norvel is preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Bolen Fracis (Ernest Jr.); a brother Noel Bolen (Barbara). He is also preceded in death by brothers-in-law who were like brothers to him: Kelly, James, and Leonard Sizemore, and a sister Bonnie Cox (Floyd), his step father Thomas Cook, and sister-in-law Margaret Bolen. Norvel is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Darlene Bolen; and his children Margetta (Steve) Griffith, and Norvel Bolen, Jr. (Rosemary). Norvel was survived by two grandsons, Norvel E. Bolen, III (Hayley), and Joe Bolen (Sarah). Norvel was extremely blessed to have three great grandchildren: Gracelynn, Lainey, and Joseph Bolen. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 9th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 12:00 pm until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. The Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family would like to express their heartfelt thank you to the staff of Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.
