Peggy June
Hager
Dec 15, 1947 — Oct 26, 2026
Clear Fork, WV
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Peggy June Simpson Hager, 78, of Clear Fork, WV. Born on December 15, 1947, Peggy was a beloved daughter of the late Charlie and Belva Toler Simpson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Elmer “Pete” Simpson and Mitchell “Mitch” Simpson; and nephew Mitchell Simpson, II. She made her home at Toler’s Farm in Clear Fork, WV, where she built a life rooted in deep faith, family, and extraordinary hospitality. Peggy was a woman of unwavering faith and a faithful servant of God, serving as a dedicated member of Clear Fork Valley Church for many years. She devoted 28 years of service to the Wyoming County Board of Education, beginning as a teacher’s aide before becoming a school secretary, spending the majority of her career at Oceana Middle School. Peggy was a friendly, welcoming face to every student, staff member, and visitor who walked through the doors. She had a rare gift for making each student feel like they were her absolute favorite, and she maintained lifelong friendships with many of her colleagues over the years. Guided by the Golden Rule, Peggy truly believed in the good in people and never had a harsh word for anyone. Everyone who knew Peggy seemed to have a cherished “Peggy story” to share. Above all else, Peggy loved her family dearly. She cherished hosting family get-togethers at the farm, bringing everyone together around good food and warmth-her legendary bread pudding will be especially missed this Christmas. Some of her fondest memories were quiet walks on the beach with her husband, David, and spending time with her grandchildren. Even though water wasn’t her favorite place to be, she never hesitated to play games like “Marco Polo” with her grandkids, who always looked forward to visits at Mamaw and Papaw’s house. Peggy is survived by the love of her life, her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, David Hager; her three daughters, Leah Spears (Daniel), Christi Cooper-Lehki (Robert, and Tanya Bailey (Michael); and her sister, Phyllis Bishop. She was the proud grandmother of Callie Daniels (Torrey), Korey Spears (Whitney), Tori Haga, Logan Haga (Hannah), Ollie Lehki, Clara Lehki, Stefan Lehki, David Lehki, and Maria Lehki; and adoring great grandmother to Holden Spears, Chloe Daniels, Colton Daniels, Cash Daniels, and Shaun Vaughn. She is also survived by her cherished nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family. In keeping with Peggy’s wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no service at this time. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
