Phyllis Danese Repass, 73, of Surfside Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Kopperston, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026. She was born February 5, 1953, in Bellepoint, West Virginia, to the late George W. Butts Jr. and Mattie “Madge” Butts. Phyllis was a proud graduate of Marshall University, earning her bachelor’s degree with the Class of 1974 and later completing her master’s degree in education. She was a member of the West Virginia Education Association and the West Virginia Federation of Teachers. Throughout her life, Phyllis touched many lives through her work and passions. She enjoyed coaching women’s high school sports and attending sporting events with her husband. She also operated her own small business, Mother’s Memories, and enjoyed participating in antique auctions and sales with her mother. Phyllis loved crafting and decorating and had a special appreciation for spending time on the beach, hunting for shells, playing cards, and, most of all, having family and friends come to visit. Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband, Jackie Repass of Surfside Beach, SC; her daughters, PJ Murphy and husband Ed of Indianapolis, IN, and Courtney Martin and husband Jon of Crab Orchard, WV; and her grandchildren, Mattie Murphy, Georgia Murphy, Joanna Martin, James Martin, and Josiah Martin. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, including her special sister-in-law, Kay Rose, and her very best friend, Rhonda Brown. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Edna “Sue” Repass, and father-in-law, Archie Repass. Visitation for Phyllis will be held on Friday October 9, 2026, from 6pm to 8pm at Burroughs Funeral Home 3558 Old Kings Hwy Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 16th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 1:00 pm until time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers the family would like you to consider making a donation in Phillis’ s name to Sunrise Hospice. Checks can be made payable to Sunrise Hospice. And can be mailed to 10177 N Kings Hwy Unit 71 Myrtle Beach, SC 29572. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all of the doctors, nurses, and healthcare providers who provided such wonderful care to Phyllis. Phyllis will be remembered for her loving heart, devotion to her family, generous spirit, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The family is being served by the Burroughs Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Murrells Inlet, SC and the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
