Ronnie Lee Stewart, 84, of Matheny, WV passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born May 17, 1942 to the late Clayton and Josa Stewart. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Tommy and Kenneth Stewart and his favorite sister Kathy Brunty. Ronnie spent his early years hunting and fishing with his brothers in the mountains. He spent his later years driving a route truck for Coca Cola where he retired after 30+ years. He was happiest spending time with his family at their hunting camp in Monroe County or fishing at Smith Mountain Lake. He was an amazing story teller, who had endless tales of coon hunting and rabbit hunting. Most of his stories included mischievousness and a prank here or there. He treasured his family, but most of all his loving wife of 60 years, Jacqueline. He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and couldn’t wait to see and hear stories of his great grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his son Michael (Crystal) Stewart of Pineville, grandchildren Brittani (Jeremiah) Hatfield of McGraws, Derek (Kayla) Stewart of Daniels, Alex (Travis) Gibson of McGraws, and Myleigh Stewart of Morgantown, brothers Norman (Jewell) Stewart of Beckley, Morris (Valurie) Stewart of Matheny, brother-in-law Greg Brunty of Matheny, sister-in-law Carol (Carl) Cox of Matheny, Barbara (Dallas) Reed of Coal City, and brother-in-law Bill (Debbie) Privett of Roanoke, VA, eight great-grandchildren, Brayden, Baileigh, and Brynleigh Hoosier, Reagan and James Stewart, and Jax, Rayleigh, Xavier Gibson, who kept him entertained. He will always be bonded to all of the males in his family because they all share his middle name Lee. He had special relationships with his nephews Mattew, Jaired, and Dustin, his hunting buddies, and especially John David Stewart. He is also survived by a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 7pm on Tuesday, June 16 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Matthew Brunty officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 5pm until time of service. He will be laid to rest at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
