With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our dad, Stanley Elmer Powers, a devoted husband, cherished father, loving grandfather, and faithful servant of God. He went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. Stanley was a man of unwavering faith. He was a firm believer in the Lord and dedicated much of his life to serving him, and sharing his word with other. As a Sunday School teacher, he loved teaching and encouraging those around him, and he found great joy in studying the Bible. His faith was not simply something he spoke about- it was the foundation on which he lived his life. He trusted God, loved His Word, and sought to be a light to everyone he met. For 26 years, he worked as a coal miner, a profession that demanded strength, determination, and sacrifice. He took great pride in providing for his family through, honest hard work, carrying that same unwavering dedication in his later years working as a security guard. While his work ethic was admirable, it was his love for his family that defined his life. He cherished every moment spent with those he loved, never missing an opportunity to make them laugh with one of his jokes or playful sense of humor. He had a remarkable way of lifting spirits, helping anyone in need, and making friends wherever he went. His life was one of faith, hard work, kindness, and laughter-a life well lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know and love him. Stanley is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Francis Powers, the love of his life. Their love was a beautiful example of commitment, devotion, and a lifetime shared together. We find comfort in knowing that they are now reunited, together again in the presence of the Lord they both loved. He is also preceded in death by his parents Rev. Elmer Powers and Faye Glenn Powers; his sister Dona Blankenship; and three brothers Danny, Ricky, and Timmy Powers. He leaves behind his four beloved children, Stanley S. Powers, of Cyclone, Brian (Phyllis) Powers of Coal City, John Powers of Cyclone, and Shontel (Jacob) White of Indian Creek. His memory will also live on through his grandchildren, Michael (Jadyn) Powers of Shady Spring, Chris (Jade) Bell of Beckley, and Corey Powers, who were blessed to have him as their grandfather. Though our hearts are broken by his absence, we are comforted by the promise of Heaven. We know that he is now home with his Savior, reunited with loved ones, and experiencing the peace and joy he spent his life believing in. His earthly work is finished. His race has been run. His faith has become sight. Until we meet again in Heaven, we will carry you in Heaven, we will carry you in our hearts and hold close to everything you taught us about love, faith, and the goodness of God. “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25: 23. Funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, August 7th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor Chelsey Noel officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 5:00 pm until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated following the service.
